Hey all, posted this on AB too, but I figured I'd put it on both my bass sites. :)
I'm looking into getting a compressor for my bass setup. Nothing fancy, just some moderate compression to even out my sound a little. Right now I'm leaning towards the Aphex Punch Factory, or maybe the EBS MultiComp. Anyone else have any ideas? Prefer to keep it as far under, say, $200 as I can.
Thanks

I used to use..
Electro-Harmonix Bass Metaphors Compressor with my Jackson. I liked the compression/sustain I got from it, and the ability to have distortion on the same box was nice. And a EQ. I paid about $150, but I noticed Guitar Center has it for $118.
I used the Aphex Punch Factory for my Karera. It has really hot pickups, and I could never get the sound I wanted out of it with my Electro-Harmonix. I picked that up on Craigs List for $30.
Now I use a BOSS ME-50B, although it is about $300, but I can run both of my basses through it, and get the sound I like from both.

I have the ME-50B as well
I have the ME-50B as well and it is a nice little unit. Gets the tones I want and some of the effects are fun to play with from time to time. I picked mine up slightly used for 125$ but I knew the guy so I got a deal.
I believe the ME-20B uses the same type of compressor in it as the 50B but retails for about 200$. I have seen some used one selling for 125 to 150.
I have not had a stand alone pedal, of any sort, in many, many, years.
