I guess I'll end up posting a thread here about every every famous bassist on Google Video or YouTube. :) A lot of the clips out there are of amazingly bad quality, so consider it a service that I dredge through the muck to find a gem or two for you guys. Here's a nice clip of Jaco Pastorius playing "Continuum."
And here's a tasty little bit of Jaco improv on the fretted bass. Who is the other bassist here? Anyone?
Wow. Thanks wheat. That made
Wow. Thanks wheat. That made my evening.
Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it, Paul. I found quite a lot of Jaco clips out there. Most of them were of fairly poor quality, but these were fun.
Seeing these makes me want to learn a Jaco track. You can find tons of vids of people on YouTube playing his songs. It's some sort of rite of passage that I've never completed.

Jaco had great feel
Its amazing to me the feel and speed jaco could pull off on a fretless bass. Nothing ever seems slightly out; it's like his fingers just stick dead on the note... :^}
Kind of make me wonder what he'd be playing now had he lived longer.

The video's are no longer available
But as for the second one, it looks like it's taken from the "Jaco Pastorius Modern Electric Bass instructional"video and the other bass player is jerry jemmott which was (and still am, i guess) a well knows session bassist.

Thanks, Moti. Now that
Thanks, Moti. Now that YouTube/Google Video are cleaning up their act with respect to copyright, I guess we can expect to see a lot of the vids linked going down. Too bad.

Maybe so, but with Jaco's
Maybe so, but with Jaco's stuff, every little bit helps. :) Maybe I'll just break down and buy Modern Electric Bass.
