switching hosts
I got an email today from our current host (mediatemple.net) saying that our database server requirements are too much for the current hosting plan (gridserver lite). They kindly offered to automatically upgrade my account to one they thought would be more appropriate, and kindly offered to tack on an extra $20/mo. for the service.
That's it for me. I'm moving everything to my other host (dreamhost.com). I've had two hosts running for a while now. jamesnotjim.com is on Dreamhost. Everything else (wheatdesign.com, bassfaq.com, bassplaying.com, etc.) is currently hosted at mediatemple, but that's about to change. I'm going to move everything over to dreamhost and give them a try. If they suck, I'll try something else.
I also want to upgrade drupal. But I have to make sure everything is working on the new host first. Expect some outages and other weirdness. If you need to contact me, try wheatbread at gmail dot com.

DNS updates might take a day
DNS updates might take a day or two. On my end, it has already updated. This is my first attempt at posting now that we're on the new server. So, if you see this comment, your DNS should have already updated and all should be well.
Be sure to file bug reports for any odd behavior. I already squashed one bug (one that kept requiring me to log in with each new page visit). That turns out to be a PHP 5.2.x bug (not a Drupal bug). So now we're rolling with PHP 4.4.7.
