Chew got it mang. You win the boat in a bottle, you just need to figure out the details on how to get one from Dags. ;)
Did you know that or did ya look it up?
I only knew who it was because on another bass forum I use there is a thread where we are posting "Pop" songs we mat not listen to that have a cool bass line and whose bassist would not be known by most listeners.

Actually, I saw Culture Club on VH1 Storytellers many years ago and looked up some of their recent stuff. I thought the bassist was quite good, so I guess his name stuck. I don't like CC's music as a whole, but the musicians involved are great players. It's the same situation as with Shania Twain's band. Music sucks, but the musicians are awesome. Lol!
It's true. The guys that get hired to play on those albums (or play on the tours) are almost always top-notch players. They don't get much chance to show off, but they're not getting paid by the note. They're getting paid to get it right.
I knew a guy who was offered the job of playing on tour with New Kids on the Block back when they were huge. He was an amazing bassist. He didn't take the gig, though. It was a pride thing for him. I would have taken it.
From what I have read Mikey Craig is not just a hired gun but is one of the founding members of CC and I can not seem to find any other works he has done.

Even better, then. I always assumed that the bassist from Sade, whose lines I always admired, was a studio cat, but he's not. He's just a good player who wound up in a very popular band. Proves good things can happen, I guess.
Paul Spencer Denman (Sade) is one of the most underrated guys out there IMO. He makes Sade's Lovers Live DVD worth a look. Great tone, and great lines.
Yes! I caught a Sade concert on TV in a hotel room in NYC years ago and it made a believer out of me. I'd always loved his lines. He's a real minimalist with great tone and groove.
Could it be Mikey Craig?
