Wheat, I put up a bass review of my TBC AP400 bass. It didn't show up immediately, but when I checked this morning it was there. I noticed a spelling error and went to edit to correct it. When I tried update the post I received a "Access Denied" response.

You are correct, Pete. All new reviews go into a que before they are approved and published. This is what causes the delay. James has to approve everything before it is published on the front page.
Currently there is only a "Preview comment" button. After clicking this, you can preview your post, and then you still have to publish it. Is it possible to have both options on the first page?

This isn't a bug report so much as a question. Is there a list of replies to my posts? The recent posts page is nice but I don't know if any are replies to my posts. Thanks.
That's the one feature I miss from AB. I'm not sure that Wheat can implement that in Drupal unfortunately. Most forums don't seem to have that feature, AB is somewhat unique in that way.
I could probably code one up as a custom module. Drupal is written in PHP and I can code PHP. But I haven't tried to do much in the way of customizing Drupal at the code level. I've done a few small hacks. For instance, if you click the interviews category, the headshots of the people being interviewed are resized (smaller), so that they line up nicely down the right side of the page, with a bit of PHP magic.
I agree with dags and Paul that this is a really good feature that I should add to the list of things to try to pull off, time permitting.
I'd also like to hack together some sort of TAB and/or standard notation editor (maybe in Flash) for posting musical examples. Though, with the rise of YouTube, maybe that would be old hat. It would still be handy, of course. That's also on the wish list.
Wish away. Sometimes I actually implement something cool.
Wheat, frequently, I see users online when I first access the site and then, when I log in, the users are gone. If this happened only once I'd just figure they logged out as I logged in but it seems to happen a lot more than coincidence would allow.
Is there a minor issue or does everyone log off in fear and loathing when I visit. LOL!
I know in my case it is the "fear and loathing" that makes me log off when I see you on. ;P
Actually, I pop in throughout the day but usually do not have any time for chattin'. Just check if there are any new threads/posts and off I go to work on the house and take care of the kiddies.

It just happened again. AB is down so I navigate to this site. The online users are listed as Pete Wallace and wheat. So I log in expecting there might be some recent posts, maybe even a chance to chat. Well as soon as I log in there are no users online besides me. Makes a guy feel like an outcast. LOL
Seems there's just a bug in the users online (as well as in the chat app) that makes people appear to be online even when they're not here. But you're not an outcast, it's just some glitch in the system that shows people as here after they've already left.
I didn't know AB was down again. I haven't been around there much of late. I'm glad, at least, that our uptime is still far better. Of course, that might change after we get--if we ever do get--as many users as AB.
Paul, I think it's the smell of Dave M's feet that lingers long after he's left. lol - He's even had a song written about the way his feet pong. I seem to remember it went something like "dead skunk in the middle of the road, stinking to high heaven!"
Wheat, I logged on yesterday and found the layout changed in my browser. The content in the main division has dropped down below the bottom of the chatbox. That is the main div appears blank until you notice the scroll bar tab is small indicating a really long page.
When you scroll down the content finally appears. I think you want to fix that as many users will not notice and simply move on.
Thanks for the bug report. Is there any chance you can screenshot that for me? Pressing the Print Screen button should copy the enter screen to your clipboard. Then you can paste it into Word or any graphics program and send the file to me.
Could you also tell me what platform (I assume Windows) and browser you're running (and what versions of both)?
I'll be happy to take a look at it. If I can replicate the error, I'll be better able to fix it.
I logged in this morning and, hey, the layout problem has disappeared. I'm not sure if you did anything different or whether it's just gremlins but I'm happy since it was a real pain having to scroll down to read anything.
Alright Wheat, why after reading all the threads that say "1 new" or "2 new" etc. etc. etc. the "# new" goes away EXCEPT on the general forum. It constantly reads "1 new" when there are no new posts OR 5 or 6 new posts.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Carburetors man!! That's what life is all about." Musicians Collaboration Studio
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Carburetors man!! That's what life is all about." Musicians Collaboration Studio
Could be the cacheing feature. Drupal caches forum posts to help minimize server load. Try holding down your shift key and pressing your reload/refresh button. Should fix it. Let me know if it doesn't.
Could also be the annoying bug in Drupal that happens on discussions that are longer than one page. If the discussion runs on to more than one page, the "new comment" links only take you to the first page and you have to find the new post yourself by walking through the pages and looking for the ones with gray backgrouns.
That's so annoying I've considered turning off the paging feature and just letting long threads stay on one page. Thoughts on that? It's generally bad form, but it's annoying to have to play hide and seek to find the new comments on really long threads.
That one I've noticed before, on the BP Project page. It is a bit annoying as you say. I'm guessing that turning of the paging feature is the best bet. Long pages are more normal these days since the advent of 'blogs'. I've hit some of those that are 50 pages long.
I tried bumping up the number of posts per page. It was 25. Now it's 50. That should cover most threads. The highest number is 100. I like that it auto paginates. I just wish the jump-to-post feature was aware of the pagination.
What about increasing the number of "Recent Comments" in the right column? Those seem to always take you to the correct reply but if there are more then
10 you can not scroll through them if they are all new. There is another idea. Instead of increasing the number how about having the ability to scroll through the "Recent Comments"?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Carburetors man!! That's what life is all about." Musicians Collaboration Studio
Hazz. I tried increasing the number of recent comments (a good idea). But there's no setting for that in the block. If I had time, I could dig around and find the code and change it manually. It's stupid that the block doesn't have an option for that. The block right above it ("all time popular content") does, but the more important one doesn't. There's no way to set it up for scrolling.
I'll add it to my list and see if I can find a way to manually change it.
I did bump up the number of comments per thread to 75. That fixes most threads so that they don't bleed on to more than one page. Any one longer than 75 needs to. But it will make the jump-to-comment thing work on most threads, as few of them exceed 75 comments.
Sooner or later, I'm going to have to upgrade to a more recent version of Drupal. This version is good, but it only gets better over time. I'm sure some of these things have been ironed out in the latest version.
Not sure if it is a Bug or a setting got changed but now when I go into any of the forums the threads are in a ascending order, oldest to newest. When before it was descending, newest to oldest. A little click of the arrow fixes it but it reverts back to the ascending view when I leave the forum.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Carburetors man!! That's what life is all about." Musicians Collaboration Studio
That was a screw-up on my part. I was tinkering with forum settings and flipped that sorting switch, thinking it had to do with the order of comments on posts (which is old to new) and not the order of posts themselves (which should always be new to old).
What happened? After you logged in and posted I tried to reply and and get to another board and I was getting an error that said something about wheat designs not allowed to post.
I should have copied it but the Mrs needed the puter for a moment.

I hit the logs and saw a bunch of those "headers already sent" problems from today. Yesterday looked better. The host had some database issues this morning, which might explain some things. Not sure, really. Just keep an eye on the performance in general. I think the hosting folks may finally work out their kinks.
When I edit a post, preview and then try to type something else I get sent to an error page "Page Not Found" or I get sent back to the tread.

That one I've noticed before, on the BP Project page. It is a bit annoying as you say. I'm guessing that turning of the paging feature is the best bet. Long pages are more normal these days since the advent of 'blogs'. I've hit some of those that are 50 pages long.
I tried bumping up the
I tried bumping up the number of posts per page. It was 25. Now it's 50. That should cover most threads. The highest number is 100. I like that it auto paginates. I just wish the jump-to-post feature was aware of the pagination.

What about increasing the
What about increasing the number of "Recent Comments" in the right column? Those seem to always take you to the correct reply but if there are more then
10 you can not scroll through them if they are all new. There is another idea. Instead of increasing the number how about having the ability to scroll through the "Recent Comments"?

Hazz. I tried increasing

That was a screw-up on my part. I was tinkering with forum settings and flipped that sorting switch, thinking it had to do with the order of comments on posts (which is old to new) and not the order of posts themselves (which should always be new to old).
Just a SNAFU. Should be fixed now.

Sorry - It's just silly old me again.
If you want the "shoutbox" to work, first you have to enter your username not just the message. Duh!
Hopefully this old cretin will eventually nut it all out.
Sorry to have bothered yo Wheat. Just add your fees to the Australian national debt.

Any thoughts Wheat?

No more AB comparisons! Yes. Seems a bit sluggish to me.
I hit the logs and saw a bunch of those "headers already sent" problems from today. Yesterday looked better. The host had some database issues this morning, which might explain some things. Not sure, really. Just keep an eye on the performance in general. I think the hosting folks may finally work out their kinks.
